POMEGRANATE

Fruit of a deciduous shrub or small tree Punica Granatum,
native to SW Asia but cultivated widely in tropical
and subtropical areas. The seeds of the
reddish-yellow fruit are often
fresh or made into
wine.

For enjoying out-of-hand or at the table, the fruit is deeply scored several times vertically and then broken apart; then the clusters of juice sacs can be lifted out of the rind and eaten.

I find it laborious to eat.
